ARC100- Intro to Architecture & Culture

In ARC 100 – Introduction to Architecture and Culture, we explored how architecture reflects history, culture, and place. The material covered in this class focused on 20th-century to contemporary Western architecture. Throughout the course, I completed a team presentation on San Salvador, an individual project on the cultural history and architecture of Chinatown, and several field reports based on class visits to local sites like Raynham Hall, Oheka Castle, & the Jones Beach Energy and Nature Center. These experiences helped me better understand how architecture shapes and is shaped by its surroundings. As a Long Island native, the class also strengthened my appreciation for the area—I realized how many architectural gems are right here close to home!
